Some of Monte's coworkers told us about the float trip down the Salt River. We had seen it advertised when we were driving through Usery Pass but did know much about it. We decided it would be a great time to take the boys as it was 105 outside. When we arrived at the rental place I quickly became aware of the atmosphere and wondered if we'd made a mistake. The parking lot was full of what looked like high school or college kids with coolers full of alcohol ready to spend a day on the river. Next time we go it will definitely be on a week day and maybe earlier in the day to try to miss some of the partiers. It took 3 1/2 hours to ride the river, we had fun building memories as a family. I would of been good with an hour ride and the water was colder then I expected. Advice for next time bring sheets to cover the tubes instead of towels, the black rubber gets really hot and the tubes get a little rough on your arms from all the paddeling.

How fun - and we're still wearing sweaters.
