Now to Monte's "dad Barnett" side of things. Last week Monte went on a business trip to Texas. Monte has a half sister that lives in Texas that we exchange Christmas cards and wedding invitations with. I have never met Suzy and Monte had only met her one other time at his "dad Barnett's" funeral over 25 years ago. We knew Monte's dad was married 4 times, his mother being his second wife. Come to find out, not that it was a deep dark family secret, but we just aren't that on top of things his dad had two children with each of his first 3 wives. How confusing was that.
Anyway back to Texas. Awhile ago Suzy friended us on facebook. (Monte doesn't have an account so by us I mean me and the boys) We've exchanged a few messages back and forth and Monte had told Suzy that he would let her know when he was going to be in Texas so they could possible get together for supper somewhere. He was in Texas a few months ago but Suzy didn't get the message until after he was back home again. This time around they were able to touch base and set up a supper get together last Thursday.
This is where things get kind of "Monte / Oprah like." I had been talking to Monte a couple weeks ago, after he had arranged his supper appointment with Suzy, we were talking about his brother that he had only met at his "dad Barnett's" funeral but hasn't been in contact with. To be honest we couldn't even remember his name...nor did we know where he was living. Just before Mont left to Texas Suzy had called and said out of the blue their brother "James" had found her on facebook and was willing to come meet them for supper which was a few hundred miles away from where he lives. Suzy checked with Monte to see if he was okay with that, which of course he was because as we all know Monte doesn't get to ruffled about things. So they all managed to get together and have a really nice visit at the Olive Garden then back at the motel.
After their evening Monte called me as he was driving to Dallas and said I got to meet Suzy, my brother James and my sister Belinda. I said "What" who is Belinda. Monte's dad Barnett's first wife had James and Belinda, someone I never heard of and Monte said he now vaguely remember knowing about. Then comes Bobbie and Monte and the youngest are Suzy and Christy (who was killed in an accident several years ago). So the meeting with Suzy ended up being almost a full Barnett sibling get together except it was such a random thing, meaning just kind evolved that Bobbie wasn't there.
It was definitely a unique experience for him to meet people that he has a family connection with. Monte & Bobbie and Belinda & James didn't stay connected much to the Barnett side of the family after their parents separated and remarried.
And to finish off this long confusing story Monte "technically" has 10 siblings and doesn't look a thing like any of them.

Good luck with those genology pages.
I am glad to know that we are not thought of as half brothers and sisters because we certainly have never felt that way either. LOL
I am glad that he got to meet up with his other siblings, what a neat experience for them all. As for not looking like any of his siblings, I can see them family resemblance around the eye area of Monte and Suzy. Besides, I am glad that he did not get all the good looks in the family, he left a smidge for the rest of us to share :) Love ya
