Last week I made a quick trip to Idaho to pick up Karson. He finished his first semester at BYU I and is now waiting to go on his mission. Monte stayed home with Kayden so I was flying solo on this trip.
I spent Tuesday night with Brad in Utah. We had a great time going out for supper and catching up. I spent the night on his super comfortable futon. I meant to take some pictures there but alas I forgot...not sure how that happened.
I then drove to Idaho. I was excited to spend some time with my cousin Laurie and her family. It seems like forever since we've had the chance for a really great visit. I did take Karson out for a quick supper Wednesday night, he had 3 finals Thursday so I spent the rest of the night visiting with the William's. Before we knew it, it was well past our bedtimes. Luckily their kids were on spring break and they didn't have to get up for school. I am so glad I left a day earlier then necessary to visit with my family.
Karson got done finals and we jumped in the tahoe and headed south. As you'll see from the photos, it was raining / snowing / sleeting in Idaho and Utah. Our plans were to stop at the American Fork hospital eat supper with Brad then continue on our journey. We had another super enjoyable visit, we really hated to go but with 12 hours of travel ahead of us we headed out again.
Karson and I stopped for gas and a bathroom break in Nephi. We had were trying to decide whether to stop in Beaver or Panguitch for the night. We decided we'd go to Panguitch which was about 3 hours away and would get us there around 12:30 am. Unfortunately 20 miles north or Beaver the weather went from rain to sleet to blinding snow. Luckily it was the beginning of the storm so the roads weren't snow packed and icy. We pulled into Beaver, called Monte to see what the forecast was looking like and realized the roads through Kanab and Flagstaff were not supposed to be good. We changed our plans and headed towards Las Vegas. The roads cleared up a bit the closer we got to Beaver so we thought it would be a good idea to keep going. We ended up spending the night in St. George.
We made it home safely Friday afternoon...unfortunately the winter weather was having an effect on our usually sunny temperatures here in the valley.

Funny license plate I was behind as I pulled into Pocatello. I went to the Subway for some soup...except they pulled it off the menu for the summer. It seemed a little premature to me.
Laurie took me around the campus while I waited for Karson to finish his finals. Walking through the Hart building (PE) I walked by this show case featuring the Ricks college athletic hall of fame. If anyone is watching the biggest loser you'll recognize this guy. He is an Olympic gold medalist in I'm not sure which Olympics and now a contestant on the biggest loser. Don't mind my shadow I was standing on my tippie toes trying to get the glare off his plaque. As a side note he was there the years I was a "Ricks College" attendee. Since I never attended any wrestling matches I didn't know he went to school there.
They built a new building kind of like the conference center in Salt Lake for devotionals and such. This gym and indoor track are attached. An interesting combination I'd say.
The beautiful Rexburg temple that you can see from the campus. It looks like we are in the parking lot but we are several blocks away. I can't believe how much things have changed in 20+ years. There are 2 to 3 times as many students many more building and renovations done to allot of the existing structures.

Karsons housing Apartment #35. These are the same apartments I stayed in except they were fine housing for women not men. As a side note they were older when I was there.
The campus across the street. This is the last and really only photo I have of Kars we are headed out.
