Crypt Hike

A week before heading back to Arizona I went on a gorgeous hike in Waterton.  We were attempting to make it to Crypt Lake but due to the rain and snow we decided to turn back before we made it the whole way.  It wasn't snowing but we had to walk across several hard packed snow banks that were several yards wide.  It was all good until the rain really came down which made the snow super slick.  Thankfully I was able to borrow some rain wear so I didn't get too soaked until the end when it began to rain hard.  The trail went from hard backed gravel to slick mud before we were back to our boat.  Even though it was overcast and fairly cold it was a beautiful day to be in the mountains.  The trail was so quiet and amazing.

This is the end of June and I am wearing a hoodie, long pants, rain coat and rain pants...and gloves.

I was hiking with a couple people who know a thing or two about flowers.  These are called lady slippers and a very rare flower...apparently "flower" lovers will come from all over the world to try and see these beauties.  They flourish in cool, wet climates.  Waterton is one of the few places they can occasionally be found.  Notice the perfect curls on their leaves and the lines inside the slippers.  Thankfully I was with some knowledgeable people or I wouldn't of taken a second look at them.
 Hell Roaring Falls
My favorite...bear grass just beginning to pop out.
