Passing

Monte's grandma Beth Perkins passed away at 94.
Grandma Perkins had lived in Queen Creek for the past couple years with her daughter Sanza.  She had been slowly getting less mobile since Christmas.  We tried to visit her as often as possible.  She had slipped into a coma a few days before she passed away.  Monte wanted to visit her probably for the last time one evening and waited for me to finish puttering around.  When we arrived we learned she had passed away about 20 minutes earlier.

Her funeral was attended by many of her 300+ family members.  Monte was able to catch up with family he had not seen in years.

Monte's Uncle Keith wasn't able to attend the funeral as he was in the valley going through treatments for an inoperable brain tumor.  At the time of Grandma's funeral he wasn't doing well.  He was in the valley so Monte was able to see him a bit when he was up to visitors.

About 2 months later after he'd surviver many rounds of treatment that took him to the brink of death he was told he was in remission and would be good for awhile.

A week after being released from the hospital he passed away unexpectedly…from what we know it had nothing to do with the brain cancer.

It was a shock to know he'd fought such a hard fight then be gone when we all thought he'd won the battle.

Uncle Keith was a private person and wasn't much for social events.  Had he not gone through his illness many people wouldn't of seen him as often as they did before he died.  It's amazing how blessing come in ways we never would expect.

Unfortunately the funeral was on a Monday and Monte had to be in Nova Scotia so we were only able to attend the viewing Sunday.

Kieth was a Vietnam vet so he had a military funeral.  His casket was perfect for him…pine box with camo.

Monte also got to visit with his "daughter" Stephanie at both funerals.
