What an end to a super fun Thanksgiving weekend. We ended the weekend by being invited to the Winters annual gingerbread house making contest. The Winters family take their gingerbread house contest very seriously and we were a bit nervous because this was the first time we have ever made one. We showed up late because of church and got to work. Luckily we brought our secret weapon, Kayden. He is the creative one in the family. I started by putting some icing on the roof and he jumped right in making it look awesome. After everyone was finished they brought in the judge, it was decided to give a first, second and third. It was a stiff competition, there was a white house complete with Barack Obama, baby land in pink and blue, a cereal house made totally of cereal, one with smashed star bursts on the roof cut into perfect diamonds, and one that I called the Swiss family Robinson's christmas home. Would you believe the judge chose the traditional gingerbread house made by the Kartchners. The deciding feature was the snowshovel made out of gum and a sucker stick. These Arizonians have never experienced the fun of snow shoveling. It was fun to make and a even more fun to be with family. It was Kayden's weekend, winning the snowglobe shoot and the gingerbread house competition.
