It was just a matter of time
I knew it was going to happen, I just didn't know when. When I was on a walk yesterday I heard some rustling in weeds and thought "I have yet to see a lizard since we moved into our house," thankfully I didn't have one jump out at me then. My luck was about to change. I was driving home from the gym this morning I passed a landscape truck parked on the side of the road. Two landscapers were walking a ways up the road with blowers, blowing the weeds and grass off the road. I was driving behind them and saw them walking cleaning up their trimmings. Suddenly they stopped and started walking backwards. There on the road was a very large snake, I didn't stop to get a closer look nor would I of taken a picture if I had my camera, in fact it took a couple seconds to register in my brain what I had just seen. I have no clue what kind it was only that it was in an "S" shape and quite large. Luckily I was still a good mile and a half from home so I know it hasn't made its way into our yard. It still makes me shudder to think about it. I better not dream of snakes tonight. It is one of those creatures put on this earth to afflict and torment man.
