When Monte and I made the move to Arizona I had one request of him,...Blend..., try not to stand out. I for one am a blender, (not the kind you make pina colada's in) but the kind that hangs back, is quiet, kind of reserved or shy. I am not sure why I am this way, probably because I am married to an out front kind of guy. I asked Monte over and over to blend, be kind and friendly but try to blend. I guess it is as hard for him to be a blender as it is for me to be outgoing or stand out in a crowd.
On Sunday they created a new ward from our ward of over 850 and made a few small changes to another ward near us. They announced the week before Christmas to be a church on time because they had an announcement. Monte said he had the inside scoop, they are making some boundary changes. We arrived at Church the Sunday after Christmas anticipating changes to be made but no member of the Stake Presidency were in attendance. The big announcement was they are making changes next week. The whole week prior I had had a knot in my stomach, when no call came prior to Sunday I arrived at the church feeling relieved but soon had that familiar knot return after sacrament started and realized the changes were still a week away.
Thursday the phone call came and a meeting with the a councilor in the Stake Presidency was requested for Saturday morning. With shaking knees and humble hearts we visited with Pres. Ray. Monte was called as 2nd councilor in the Mountain Ranch ward. (Shock #2) We were in Desert Valley Ward and had heard from our dentist (his brother is a councilor in the stake presidency) the new ward was going to be called Bella Via. Since we live in the Bella Via area we assumed that would be our ward. I had no clue they were making boundary changes in the Mountain Ranch ward. (actually I didn't know there was a ward called Mountain Ranch near us). Ourselves and about 20 other families are joining the Mountain Ranch ward. We are back to knowing hardly anyone...sigh....When Pres. Ray told us we were going to MRW my jaw dropped and we both said what... he then informed us if we couldn't throw a rock and hit our neighbor they wern't going to be in our ward. Luckily that was a slight exageration, we do have some great families headed to MRW and the opportunity to meet new people will be great, I hope. We had never seen or heard of the bishop, Bishop Wold. That is a first for us, before we atleast could put a face and name together. (Monte and I were speculating about Bishop Wold, he said, "I bet he is a young guy about my age". I said, "are you considered a young guy". He said, "I'm not getting a pension so ya".)
Sunday we went to Desert Valley Ward, saw the boundary changes then went to Mountain Ranch Ward so Monte could be sustained. When they announced Monte as the 2nd councilor 250 heads turned to see who they were calling into their bishopric. (the other council and a few of the Mountain Ranch Ward members were going to Desert Valley Ward). After the sacrament was passed they asked a few people to share their testimonies, my name was called down the list... problem one I wasn't listening so I didn't know who I followed...problem two even if I was listening I didn't have a clue who these people were...problem three I was sitting beside Karson and Kayden and they were no help.
To make a long story short Monte is back in the bishopric for the 4th time, and we are back to meeting and getting to know new people. Let the adventure begin.
