Winter in the Valley

We are below freezing here in "sunny" Arizona. I know compared to other parts of the world it isn't much to complain about but the poor plants think it is a little chilly. We learned about the 3 "P's" on the news, Plants, Pipes and Pets, cover and protect them. The photo doesn't show the trouble lights Monte added to the ficus trees, apparently they are one of the first to suffer from frost. Amazingly the palms are holding up fine. Luckily in just a few weeks we'll be in spring and anything that does get a touch of frost will quickly repair itself.

On a sad side note we are now back to just one child in the house. Brad made it home safely to Salt Lake...he did make a return trip to Phoenix when the plane couldn't land due to fog but managed to get another flight the next day.

Brett and Malori had the drive from "you know where". Their 24 trip turned into 3 times that long. Monte lost weight from worry and I gained. It took them 10 hours to get to Flagstaff, they would of come back and waited for the amateur winter drivers to quite blocking traffic but they were stuck behind and in front or miles of others travelers. Being a good Samaritan Brett pulled an older gentleman's 2 wheel drive truck and trailer up the mountain to his daughters in Flagstaff. They pushed on to Salt Lake, napped for a bit then headed out again only to be held up near the Idaho Montana border for 14 hours waiting for I15 to open. They are home safe and sound and hopefully remembering the good times not the trip home.

Karson and Monte left this morning for Rexburg to begin his semester at BYUI.

We had the best Christmas ever...I honestly don't think it could of been more fun, unfortunately all good things must come to an end. We'll just have to look forward to next time.
