San Diego

We made a quick trip to San Diego for part of the long weekend. It was fun spending time together seeing new places and relaxing. It would be nice if the coast was as warm as this valley, the water felt a little chilly but we did enjoy the cooler sunny day.

I was a little disappointed with the piles of seaweed everywhere. It made the beaches look unkept. Kayden and Monte looked in the seaweed piles for sea creatures.

The boats on the pier. We drove there in hopes of finding Kayden some yummy seafood. He had been waiting for weeks to taste and try new things. We went on Memorial day not thinking they'd be closed for the holiday, unfortunately they were.

We spent some time in Old Town San Diego wandering around the shops, there was lots to see and enjoy. The candy store was a highlight...it looked like they had a machine in the window making stretch candy, it ended up being salt water taffy. Kayden found some candy sticks. There was one flavored hoer hound (not sure on the spelling) Monte advised him against picking that one.

We went to the Mormon Battalion Sunday night. We got there when they happened to be having a quieter moment so the four of us were by ourselves for the tour. It was a lot of fun learning a part of church history. The two sister missionaries that went with us were great...we really enjoyed our visit.
