quick hike in Waterton

Monte and I had the privilege of going on a hike with friends in Waterton. Lorin and Wendy Low standing next to us are our great friends. The two girls beside them were working in the park for a few weeks...they are from Holland and the other 3 are friends of Lorin and Wendy's that reside in the park for the summer or all year.

We decided to hike to Forum Lake, a hike that takes you into BC. We thought of doing the ridge from Forum Lake to Wall Lake but there was too much snow. Lorin and Wendy had an experience a few weeks earlier with their daughter and her friends. One of the girls slipped on the snow and panicked, instead of putting her feet out to stop herself she curled into the fetal position and rolled off the edge of where they were hiking...after waiting several hours for help they got her airlifted out thankfully she is going to be okay. It made Lorin and Wendy way more cautious then before so we didn't do the ridge. We did hike through snow and saw some beautiful scenes.

Looking down on Wall lake.

It is not unusual to find snow in the mountains but this much this late in July is a little unusual.
