Well this week was fairly uneventful for the most part did a lot of talking with the more Less Active members in the area, talked a lot about conference coming up and invited um to watch and hear the warning voice of the prophet. We didn’t have any ground shattering lessons with any LA members so it was pretty average in that regard. We weren't able to catch the first few sessions of conference the church didn’t have the projector set up and where we were planning on watching it ended up not being able to get it so we did some service bringing down some trees and splitting wood. Had a close call while splitting wood. I had my ax leaning up against the pile of logs that needed cut and bub was adding some fresh cut logs to the stack he ended up pushing some logs off and the axe ended up getting thrown into the air luckily the ax head missed me because I had just sharpened the dang thing so she had an edge on her. However the dang handle wiped around and caught me on the arm giving me a raspberry and a nice bruise but I guess it could have been worse.
The conference we caught was good I rather enjoyed Press Monsons story about starting the fire and everyone coming out to put it out. It reminded me of life on the ranch when grandpa Brad Brett and I were burning garbage. And the wind "changed" causing the hill side of nice grass to catch on fire and us beating it back. Not sure if obedience was the lesson to be learned there but I guess as dad always says when the wind blows the crap does fly.
We watched the sunday afternoon session with Tony and I think it went well we had some great talks by Elder Holland and Bruce D Porter who was actually visiting the Pittsburgh mission a couple months ago so I had the pleasure of meeting him. Tony is still doing pretty good he is having some falling back but all in all he still seems to be moving forward. He is starting to lose some motivation so that makes it tough but we will keep on working with with him moving boldly forward.
But I hope everything continues to go well with everyone and that we all continue to learn from the lessons that were taught at conference. Think of you often.
love
Elder Kartchner
